During my career as an English teacher, I have taught English in England, Africa, Malaysia and Hong Kong. While teaching in Malaysia, I met and married my wife Lynda who is Malaysian Chinese. We arrived in Hong Kong in 1989 where I have worked at the Institute of Language in Education, the Hong Kong Institute of Education, the Hong Kong University School of Professional and Continuing Education and the Open University of Hong Kong. My wife is Assistant Manger of the Human Resources Department at the Canadian International School. Our first son, Brendan, was born in 1984, but was tragically killed in a landslide in Hong Kong in 1992. This book is dedicated to his memory, as are my other two publications, ‘One Hundred Poems for Hong Kong Teachers and their Students ‘ and ‘Time to Rhyme’. His younger brother Brian, who was born in 1986, recently graduated from Vancouver Film School where he studied Classical Animation. He is one of the illustrators of this book. The other one is Brian’s girlfriend Lauren, who also graduated from Vancouver Film School at the same time as he did.
