Born in the southern city of Chennai, and having studied at schools across the length and breadth of the country, Nithin M. Britto eventually gravitated towards the now eighty-five year old Loyola College in pursuit of an Economics degree in the late 1990s. As did most of his contemporaries at the time, he began his working life in an I.T. company. Three years and two jobs later, he left the industry to join an organisation working with Adivasi tribals in the state of Gujarat, where he lent a hand in water harvesting projects, drought relief initiatives, a health clinic and a primary school. The many opportunities to explore the use of film in his work there led him eventually to Film School in Brisbane, Australia, after which he came back to India to work first in New Delhi and then in Mumbai as a Producer in reality television. The world of Bollywood then beckoned and he responded, lining up as a behind-the-scenes-man/ line producer which did him more harm than good, depending on whom you ask. A three-month trip to Norway to visit old friends saw him take a break from work early in 2009, and since he’s been back in India he awaits his next calling in his so far uncommon career graph with a mixture of apprehension and longing.
