RobTennant, son of theatrical agent Cecil Tennant and Russian Ballerina Irina Baronova, served his apprenticeship as a road car mechanic before getting himself into the cockpit of a racing car. During his first season he did everything himself, building, preparing, entering and transporting his car to the race meetings around England. A good first season culminated with the Formula Ford festival at Brands Hatch, where he qualified his two year old car equal fastest out of 260 international competitors .
This laid the foundation for works drives in Formula Ford and FF2000 both in the UK and Europe over the next two years, racing against the likes of Roberto Moreno, Jonathan Palmer, Julian Bailey and Aryton Senna. The highlights of these years were numerous wins and new lap records, including breaking Nigel Mansell's long-standing FF1600 lap record at Thruxton.
He eventually moved to California in order to pursue his motor racing career, but severe recession put paid to his sponsorship and his plans foundered.
Rob has always been passionate about writing. Although his focus is on literary fiction, this look back at his driving experiences offers a rare view of life in the cockpit of a single seater.
Rob is based between Hampshire and the West coast of Scotland where he continues to indulge in his passion for writing.
