Toofani Days, Valentine Nights
Full Description
Jennifer’s relationship with Sanjay brings them into conflict with the Jai Bharat Sena, a right-wing group that opposes Westernization, ‘Christian’ festivals like Valentine’s Day and freedom of expression.
Matters come to a head during the build up to Valentine’s Day in February 2008. Jennifer assists in directing Durbar Mein Garbar (‘Trouble in Court’), a comedy based on Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing, which is part of the ‘Mughal Revival Festival.’ The Jai Bharat Sena opposes the festival on the grounds that the Mughals were foreign invaders, not ‘true Indians’.
They also warn young people not to visit pubs or celebrate Valentine’s Day. Sanjay and Jennifer defy the autocratic elements and stir up the youth of Agra to launch the Valentine Express, a convoy of vehicles that passes through the city and terminates at a popular pub called Shanti on February 14th.
After some heart-stopping moments and dramatic sequences, the Valentine Express succeeds. Love conquers all.
